As many of you know from our website and former Facebook posts, Dr. Heaton and two of his sons have been to Africa this summer with Young Life. You may remember that Young Life Africa is a ministry focused on creating camps for young people in the country, many of whom are orphans due to AIDS and other diseases. The trip was an effort to raise funds and awareness for the ministry.Dr. Heaton and his sons spent 5 days and an additional 8 hours in the dark climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro to reach Uhuru Peak at over 19,000 feet!
After their descent from Mt. Kilimanjaro the Heatons were able to spend some time in a Young Life camp where they saw firsthand what the ministry is doing in Tanzania. They were able to meet some of the staff and young people that Young Life Africa serves.
Dr. Heaton and his sons were also able to take some time for a safari while in Africa. They saw some of the beautiful landscape and wildlife that the region is known for. Overall, it was a wonderful time for Dr. Heaton and his sons to experience a wonderful ministry and breath taking part of the world.
